# Build an event management system with Airtable

> A public events site where people browse what's on and register — with every event, seat and booking living in Airtable.

A live events portal where visitors browse sessions and register, backed entirely by an Airtable base.

This is a working events site — a browsable list of conferences, workshops and meetups, each with its own page, and a sign-in flow that lets people register for a spot. Nothing about it is a mock-up: every event, venue and booking is a record in the Airtable base linked below, and the whole thing runs on that base in real time.

The pattern is one people reach for constantly and it's harder than it looks: you want an event calendar your team already keeps in Airtable to become a public site where visitors can register — without exposing your base, your API key, or letting anyone book a session that's already full.

## What it takes to build one

- **A public front end over private data.** Visitors see the events, never the base. The API key stays server-side, so there's nothing to lift from the page — see [secure token storage](/products/vibekit/features/secure-token-vault).
- **Sign-in tied to your records.** People log in and only then can register; their account is a row your team controls in Airtable — see [Airtable authentication](/products/vibekit/features/airtable-auth).
- **Capacity that's actually enforced.** A seat check runs on every booking so an event can't oversell, and the moment one sells out both the listing and its detail page flip to full — see [real-time sync](/products/vibekit/features/live-data).
- **Fast pages under real traffic.** An events launch means a spike of readers; an [edge cache](/products/vibekit/features/edge-cache) keeps the listing quick and stays inside Airtable's rate limits.

## How the data stays in Airtable

Your team keeps running the calendar the way they already do — adding events, editing times, closing registrations — straight in Airtable. The site reflects those edits as they happen, and registrations are written back as new rows, so the base is always the single source of truth. Open the base behind this demo to see the Events, Venues and Bookings tables the app reads and writes.
